There are thousands of little chakras throughout your body and beyond, we will stick to the 7 most common. We are able to use essential oils to heal, clear and balance these energy centers. Each energy center has unique characteristics that are fundamental to our health and well-being.

The Base Chakra or 1st chakra is situated at the base of the spine. It controls the adrenal glands, kidneys, spine and the whole of the nervous system. It promotes physical survival, vitality, stability, patience, courage and material success.

Essential oils are highly concentrated, powerful liquids. Their potency must be respected and they can be toxic if used incorrectly. The way you handle and use essential oils is very important. Please read the following advice to help ensure that you use essential oils safely and effectively. Please note that this list does not constitute a complete safety reference. If you are unsure please contact Giving Tree Essentials or a qualified local aromatherapist for more advice.
- Essential oils are flammable liquids. 
- Keep out of the reach of children unless deemed safe. If a child swallows an essential oil, administer milk, honey, or another safe, oil-soluble liquid. 
- Certain essential oils should be avoided during pregnancy.          
- Avoid all contact with the mouth area and eyes.
- Certain essential oils (i.e. spices) can cause skin irritation for people with sensitive skin. If you have sensitive skin we recommend performing a small patch test prior to using any new oil or product. If an oil starts to irritate, rub the area with vegetable oil. Water will not work. If irritation persists, discontinue the use of that particular oil.
- Some citrus oils may be phototoxic which means they can cause skin sensitization and skin discoloration in bright sunlight. These oils should be avoided in sunny weather.
- Research shows that many oils are safe to take internally as supplements. Some oils however, are for external use only. Consult with an essential oils expert if there are any questions.​
